If you have been referred by your GP on a Mental Health Plan you maybe able to receive a Medicare Rebate.  I continually up-skill in various Focused Psychological Therapies to provide the best possible care to clients. I have particularly interest in working towards recovery in mental health. With 20+ years experience working within public mental health I would be happy to work with you to explore, understand and reach you own recovery and wellbeing. I have worked with people over the past 25 years who have been living with a mood disorder, (such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder) or psychotic disorders, (such as schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder) and addiction, (behavioural or substance addiction).  It can take courage to take the first step to book an appointment and I look forward to meeting with you and working with you at your pace.

Dr Jane is passionate about helping people recover from their gambling harms and be free to live a life where money, family and time have value. As part of her best practice treatment approach, she helps people build a meaningful life after gambling.

Dr Jane Oakes is a gambling treatment specialist with an experience of over 20 years. Dr Oakes specialises in treating people experiencing gambling-related issues to achieve mastery over their gambling using evidence-based methods.

Dr Jane has genuine empathy and compassion for her clients, helping them to feel comfortable and develop trust when they talk about their stories; they can trust that recovery is possible for them too.

With has had experience across multiple senior positions, including the South Australian Intensive Gambling Help Service clinical lead, the Gambling Services Coordinator for Turning Point’s National Telephone and Online Services and the Gambling Topic Coordinator and lecturer within the Master of Addictive Behaviours Monash and Flinders University. 

She has published articles and book chapters, written website materials for Australian gambling programs, and given invited presentations and workshops in this area internationally. Dr Jane also has expertise in treating anxiety disorders, trauma, alcohol and drug dependence and depression, often present when someone experiences issues with gambling.
